Even though 2012 has just arrived, it's not too early to start talking about 2013. In an entirely unsurprising move, Wizards of the Coast has announced the next Magic: The Gathering core set - Magic 2013. The tagline of the new set is "Face a Greater Challenge". Since switching to core sets named after years with Magic 2010, a new core set has been released at the beginning of every summer. M13, containing 249 cards, will drop on July 13, 2012, with pre-release events taking place the week prior. This set will join the Innistrad Block, Scars of Mirrodin Block, and M12 in standard play, with the latter two rotating out this October. I'm personally really excited to get my hands on this release. Although core sets offer more basic Magic: The Gathering gameplay, my enjoyment of them has grown with each consecutive year. It will be interesting to see what cards are staying in, what cards are out, and what cards are making their comeback. I wouldn't mind seeing another year of the 2 mana cost Mage cycle, but I think it's time for the Titans to go.

Here is a video that could possibly be a leaked cinematic promoting Magic 2013. I'm not sure of its validity, but it appears to be very well made. Well worth a watch!
