An open letter from BioWare executive producer Mark Darrah has officially announced the development of Dragon Age III: Inquisition. Most BioWare fans probably could have seen this coming, as the Dragon Age franchise has been a smashing hit financially for BioWare and EA. Darrah was skimpy with details on the new game, but a few things have been confirmed. The game will be produced by the same Edmonton based team that has been responsible for the franchise since Dragon Age: Origins. It will also leverage technology from DICE's Frostbite 2 Engine to push the series to new levels graphically. It's rumoured to be ready for release sometime in 2013, as it has already been in the works for 2 year.BioWare understands how important this game is to them. The last few BioWare games (Mass Effect 3, The Old Republic, Dragon Age II) have been generally well received, but haven't achieved the same levels of critical excellence like their earlier work. Fans are beginning to grow weary, and are beginning to think that the EA acquisition may have permanently "ruined" BioWare. Regardless of your opinion of the last few BioWare titles, we can all hope together that Dragon Age III will be a return to greatness for a studio still trying to reestablish its unique voice after being consumed by the EA juggernaut.
